Is the Nissan Magnite getting closer to a PH launch?

We all know that all is well at Nissan Philippines. And it looks like the Japanese automaker wants to show that as it could already be preparing to launch another new model in our market.
What could that be, you ask? It’s the Magnite subcompact crossover, based on a recent memorandum circular from the Land Transportation Office (LTO), which has been posted on its website.
The small crossover was previewed at last year’s Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), albeit in pre-facelift and right-hand drive form. If launched locally, it will most definitely be the facelifted version which is exported to left-hand drive markets. If launched, it can compete directly with the Chery Tiggo 2 Pro and the very popular Toyota Raize.

The LTO documents confirm two variants for the small crossover in our market so far: the 1.0 VE Turbo CVT and 1.0 VL Turbo CVT.
Both will be powered by a 999cc (or 1.0-liter) turbocharged three-cylinder engine. Based on what other markets have, this is the same HRA0 unit that can be found in the local spec Nissan Almera, and is good for 100 horsepower and 152Nm of torque, mated to a CVT.
Other notable information in the documents are 16-inch wheels wrapped in 195/60 tires for both variants, and a 203mm ground clearance.
Meanwhile, features we can expect based on what other markets get include LED headlights and daytime running lights, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a seven-inch digital instrument cluster, and leatherette seats.

With small crossovers continuously gaining traction in our market, do you think one like the Nissan Magnite would do well? Now we wonder when and if Nissan Philippines really plans to launch this.
