The latest in Philippine motoring

It looks like the BYD Atto 2 is coming to the PH

If you’ve been keeping count, BYD Cars Philippines has launched at least six new models since ACMobility took the reins of the brand back in 2023, with the latest one being the upcoming Sealion 5 DM-i crossover, according to Land Transportation Office (LTO) classification documents.

Now, new homologation documents have revealed that BYD’s smallest EV crossover, the Atto 2, has just received certification. Two variants have been revealed, which are the Dynamic, and the Premium.

The main differences between the two are mostly in power delivery and battery capacity, where the Dynamic has a smaller battery (32kWh LFP battery) that has an indicated maximum range of 280km, takes 5.6 hours to fully charge via AC, and 37.2 minutes via DC, and has an electric motor with a 70kW output (94 horsepower).

On the other hand, the Premium variant has a larger battery (47kWh LFP battery) capable of going up to 380km on a single charge and takes 7.4 hours to charge via AC and 42.3 minutes via DC. This gets a beefier electric motor, capable of producing 130kW (174 horsepower).

Size-wise, the Atto 2 measures 4,310mm long, 1,830mm wide, and 1,675mm tall, with a generous wheelbase of 2,620mm. It resembles the Atto 3, just with a boxier profile, more rugged plastic cladding all around, and a “Chinese knot” rear taillight design. Wheel sizes come at 16 inches for both the Premium and Dynamic.

With the addition of the Atto 2 to the lineup, BYD Cars Philippines is set to attack the Philippine car industry with an offering in almost every segment.
