Chery’s Jetour brand to enter PH this April
Another new car brand is set to enter the Philippine market this year. Jetour, a sub-brand of Chery which already has a local presence, is said to make its debut at the upcoming 2023 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) in April.
This was reported by various motoring media publications and comes after other reports of Omoda, another Chery sub-brand, also entering the Philippine market this year.
Jetour, again a sub-brand of Chery, was established in 2018, offering a lineup of crossovers such as the X70, X70 Plus, X90, X95, and Dashing. It is said that the brand will launch initially with three models—the X70, X70 Plus, and the Dashing.
According to the reports, Jetour will be independent of Chery Auto Philippines which is managed by the United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI). Instead, it will be a partnership of two dealer groups, Gateway Group and AutoSpeedyGo, both large dealer groups of various carmakes in the country.
AutoSpeedyGo’s Yves Jovincci Licup will be the brand’s President while Gateway’s Michael Goho will be Vice President. Both their respective dealer groups compete in the industry handling brand’s like Chery, Chevrolet, Geely, MG, and Nissan.
Of course, we don’t know what exactly will happen with Jetour as we don’t have much information at this time. We won’t have to wait too long though as the MIAS is just a month and few weeks away.
