JMC PH opens pre-selling for JMEV EV2 and EV3 small electric hatchbacks

After their upcoming launches were announced a little over a month ago, pre-selling has been opened for the JMC JMEV EV2 and EV3.
This was announced by JMC Philippines which is under the distributorship of Astara Philippines. The two small electric hatchbacks are built by JMEV which is JMC’s EV-focused subsidiary. Their launches will also mark the Chinese automaker’s entry into the steadily growing electrified vehicle market.
JMC Philippines was also kind enough to share some details about these two vehicles.
The JMEV EV2 will be priced between Php 660,000 and Php 680,000. It’s very compact, measuring at 3,500mm long, 1,646mm wide, and 1,460mm tall, while riding on a 2,340mm wheelbase. Cargo capacity is 105L and ground clearance is 110mm.
Accommodating a total of four occupants, it features PVC leather seats and a two-speaker audio system. JMC is also proud to say that it comes with 14 storage compartments.
Moving it is a single electric motor that produces a modest 35 horsepower and 84 Nm of torque, with a top speed of 105kph. It’s paired to a 15.86kWh battery allowing for a 201km driving range on a single charge.

Meanwhile, the larger JMEV EV3 will be priced at between Php 780,000 to Php 800,000. It measures at 3,720mm long, 1,640mm wide, and 1,485mm tall. It can accommodate five occupants and has a cargo capacity of 177L thanks to its larger dimensions.
Features for this one include an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and probably similar equipment as the EV2. Seemingly worth mentioning are its dual front airbags and anti-lock brakes.
Its electric motor produces a more respectable 68 horsepower and 125 Nm of torque, capable of a 115kph top speed. Paired to a 31.15kWh battery, one full charge will let it drive up to 330km.
With the rise of small electric vehicles from China, we’re not surprised the JMC Philippines wants to try and get some market share. Do these two models sound compelling to you?
