Kia PH introduces all-new Sorento with Php 2.398M starting price
While the year 2021 is a bit over a month from ending, Kia Philippines is making the most of it with the relaunch of the brand under its latest company identity. With that new identity also comes new models and one of them is the 2022 Kia Sorento.
The 3rd generation of Kia’s midsize crossover has been available in the country since 2015. With over 2.2 million units sold globally since 2022, for the 2022 model year, the Sorento is all new and wears Kia’s latest design language and of course, their new logo.
Available in two variants, the EX and SX, Kia says that the Sorento comes with an exterior and interior that can be best described as “refined boldness.” This is evident with its sharper and more premium appearance. It is also larger compared to the outgoing model with 30 mm more length (4,810 mm), 20 mm more width (1,900 mm), and 5 mm more height (1,695 mm). Its wheelbase has also been stretched by 35 mm (2,815 mm).
Standard exterior features are LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED fog lights, and LED taillights.
Inside, the 2022 Sorento is visibly more premium with standard features such as leather seats, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, , 6-speaker audio system, smart keyless entry with push button start, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Going for the SX variant adds plenty with a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charger, 8-way power front seats, driver seat memory function, cooling and heating function for front seats, heated steering wheel, and electronic parking brake.
Under the hood of the 2022 Kia Sorento is a 2.2-liter Smartstream turbodiesel engine that produces 199 horsepower and 441 Nm of torque. This is paired to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
In terms of safety, the Sorento, in addition to the usual passive safety features also get a handful of active safety features such as a blind spot view monitor, 360-degree around-view monitor, rear cross and forward collision avoidance assist, and lane keep and following assist.
The 2022 Kia Sorento has a starting price of Php 2,398,000 for the EX variant. The Sorento SX with all the bells and whistles is priced at Php 2,588,000. For now, three colors are available. These are Snow White Pearl, Silky Silver, and Aurora Black Pearl.
