Kia PH is launching two new models this year, two more possible as well
With 2021 now in full-swing, Kia Philippines has announced today that they will be introducing at least two all-new models within the year, guaranteed. An additional two more is also possible depending on market conditions.
This was announced by none other than the company’s President Manny Aligada during an online round-table discussion with local automotive media. This means that two of the six planned new models to be launched by AC Motors this year are under the Kia brand.
The exact new models have not been revealed however a couple of models which are already available in other markets are highly possible. The two new models could be the all-new Kia Sorento 7-seater midsize crossover SUV as well as the Kia Carnival family minivan. Both these nameplates have been available locally ever since they were first introduced worldwide.
As for the other two possible models, there are a handful of nameplates that received updates last year and are also likely candidates such as the Picanto and Stinger.
In addition, the launch of these new models is part of Kia Philippines’ goal of triple-digit growth in order to reach its 2019 sales numbers. The brand sold just 2,219 units in 2020, a drop of 57.6 percent versus the previous year. This figure is led by the Soluto subcompact sedan with 827 units sold, the K2500 utility van with 370 units, and interestingly the Stonic subcompact crossover with 345 units sold despite just being launched in October 2020.
