Kia PH teases Stonic again, launching in October
Back in July, Kia Philippines teased a new model to the Philippine automotive media. In that teaser they only announced that the model would be unboxed/launched by the 4th quarter of this year. Based on that teaser as well, it was easy to conclude that the new model was gonna be the Stonic subcompact crossover.
Now, in a new teaser posted on its official Facebook page, Kia Philippines has officially made it known that they will in fact be launching the all-new Stonic. There is also now a somewhat official launch date, or month, the all-new Kia Stonic will be launched in October this year.
Once launched, the Kia Stonic should slot below the Seltos in Kia’s local crossover lineup. The Kia Stonic is the company’s smallest crossover offering ever since it was first launched in Europe. It shares its platform with the Seltos and the Hyundai Kona.
Unfortunately, no other details were given as to what exact powertrain and other specs the crossover will have once launched here. In other countries, the Stonic is powered by choices of either a 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, 1.2-liter and 1.4-liter gasoline engines, or a 1.6-liter turbodiesel. Considering that most Kia vehicles available in the country are also well-specced and come with good features at competitive prices, we won’t be surprised if this one will be the same.
We’ll have to wait for the October launch to find out more specs and pricing for the all-new Kia Stonic. In the meantime, check out the teaser from the official Kia Philippines Facebook page below:
