Lexus PH might be introducing new variants of the RZ soon

With all the focus on Toyota’s bZ4X and upcoming Urban Cruiser battery electric vehicles, one shouldn’t forget that the first BEV technically brought in by Toyota Motor Philippines was the Lexus RZ.

It’s currently available in two different trims, the single-motor, front-wheel drive RZ 300e and the dual-motor, all-wheel drive RZ 450e. We know that other markets saw the RZ get a rather hefty mechanical update sometime last year, introducing new power outputs, a steer-by-wire system with a yoke-style tiller, and even an F Sport variant that further improves handling.

However, it seems that Leuxs Philippines is now planning to introduce new variants of the RZ, if the homologation documents on the Department of Energy’s List of Recognized EVs are to be believed.

Adding to the roster is the front-wheel drive RZ 350e with a maximum power output of 157kW (224 horsepower) and 268Nm of torque, a higher-end RZ 500e with 280kW (380 horsepower) and the same 268Nm of torque, and, more surprisingly, the RZ 600e F Sport, which comes with a generous 425 horsepower.

All of them share a new 77kWh battery pack, allowing the 350e to travel up to 575km, the 500e up to 500km, and the 600e F Sport to do up to 525km on a single charge.

The 600e F Sport is the one that should interest more people, as this comes clad in full carbon fiber aerodynamics, the yoke-style steering wheel with the steer-by-wire system, and the Interactive Manual Drive system that allows the drivers to simulate an eight-speed gearbox via the paddle shifters, and with fake engine noise and a virtual rev limiter, to boot.

Should Lexus Philippines really bring these in, will these be enticing enough for you to consider the RZ over other premium electric vehicles?
