Maxus PH Enters The Crossover Battlefield With The 2021 D60, Starts at Php 1.148M (w/ spec sheet)
After quite a lengthy social media teaser campaign started last year, Maxus Philippines, under the distributorship of AC Motors, has finally launched the all-new 2021 Maxus D60.
The D60’s launch is the brand’s second virtual launch held online after the G50 MPV, held in August. Maxus’ latest model is set to compete in the very popular and growing crossover SUV segment.
First, two variants are available: 1.5 Pro and 1.5 Elite. In terms of size, the Maxus D60 is actually a midsize crossover, with a length of 4,720 mm. It is however set to compete in the compact crossover SUV segment with the likes of the Honda CR-V, Hyundai Santa Fe, and even the Ford Territory and Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, the latter just launched last week.
On the outside, the D60 gets a very striking front fascia based on the Maxus Tarantula concept. The front grille on the Elite variant is what Maxus calls their Cobweb grille. The top-spec 1.5 Elite variant gets full LED lighting in front composed of the headlights, daytime running lights, and turn signals as standard. It also gets 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels as opposed to 17-inch ones on the Pro. The Pro also gets halogen headlights instead of LED. The rear of the D60 will surely be recognized at night with its LED lightbar that stretches across the entire rear end. The exhausts are also integrated into the bumper and are none of those fake nonsense.
Inside, the D60 gets two seating configuration options depending on the variant. The Pro variant gets seating for 5 people while the Elite has for 7 with its additional 3rd row. The Elite variant gets black leather seats, push button start, and an electronic parking brake. The Pro on the other hand gets fabric seats instead. Infotainment for both variants is controlled via an 8-inch touchscreen system. Sound is sent through 6 speakers.
Under the hood, the D60 is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine shared with the G50 MPV and even the MG RX-5 compact crossover. It produces 167 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
In terms of safety, the Maxus D60 gets dual front airbags, side airbags, Electronic Stabilisation Program, Electronic Brake Assist, Hill Hold Control, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Reverse Camera, Rear Parking Sensors, and ISOFIX childseat anchors as standard on both variants. The Elite gets additional front parking sensors.
In terms of pricing, the 2021 Maxus D60 is priced at subcompact crossover levels starting at Php 1,148,000 for the 1.5 DCT Pro and Php 1,258,000 for the 1.5 DCT Elite.
