Mazda introduces a new shade of blue called Navy Blue Mica

Mazda is one company that’s known to have some of the more stunning modern paint jobs, with eye-catching colors such as Soul Red Crystal, Machine Gray, Polymetal Gray, and special Takaminuri colors such as Rhodium White and Artisan Red Premium.

Making its debut on the all-new CX-5 is Navy Blue Mica, an evolution of the current Deep Crystal Blue offered on its current cars, and it hopes for it to be the brand’s standard shade of navy in years to come.

Navy Blue Mica aims to be more vivid in the highlights and the shadows, more “elegant”. The current Deep Crystal Blue has a characteristic where the blue pops under the sunlight, but looks almost black when in the shadows. Mazda says that its newest color is “high resolution”, with more color precision and clarity, alongside being higher contrast. This was done by arranging the mica flake particles in the paint horizontally, allowing the blue to show regardless of weather conditions.

Since 1970, Mazda has been using “Mazda Blue” as its corporate symbol color, and has offered over 150 different shades of blue ever since. If you’re lucky enough to be in Japan, the automaker is showing it alongside a customized CX-5 off at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026 at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba.
