Mazda is set to reveal all-new BT-50 next week
Mazda is officially set to reveal the all-new third generation of its BT-50 pick-up truck on June 17 at 9:00 am, Philippine Standard Time. The company also released a teaser image showing the overall silhouette of the truck.
The all-new Mazda BT-50 will be sharing its platform with the third generation Isuzu D-Max which was revealed in Thailand in October last year. The first and current second generations of the BT-50 share their platforms with the Ford Ranger.
In terms of looks, we can expect the Mazda to adapt the Kodo design language into the body of the D-Max as they have done with the Ford Ranger T6. We are curious how the company will adapt the swoopy and soft curvy lines of current Mazda products to a utilitarian and boxy pick-up truck body.
Other details are still unavailable but we might see powertrain options from the D-Max. There’s a 1.9-liter turbodiesel making 148 hp and 350 Nm of torque, and a 3.0-liter turbodiesel that makes 187 hp and 450 Nm of torque. Mazda can also put their own 2.2-liter SkyActiv-D which puts out the same figures as Isuzu’s 3.0-liter engine.
