Meet the 2020 Mitsubishi Strada Athlete

Just around the time when Mitsubishi Motors Philippines launched the updated Xpander lineup, they also introduced a new variant for it’s Strada pick-up truck. Meet the Mitsubishi Strada Athlete.

The Strada Athlete is a spruced up version of the Strada GT 4×4 and GLS 4×2 variants. It is what the Navara Sport Edition is to Nissan, Ranger FX4 to Ford, and Hilux Conquest to Toyota. 

So what makes the Strada Athlete different from the rest of the lineup?

Blacked-Out Everything

Black is the new chrome with the Strada Athlete. Hate chrome? This is the truck for you. Everything is blacked-out, the Dynamic-shield grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, door handles, side mirrors, tailgate handle, rear bumper, roof, and sports bar. 

Sporty Decals

Like decals? The Strada Athlete gets some nice black decals or graphics on the sides with the Strada name. They give a bit of a bolder and tougher look for this truck. They also match well with the rest of the black accents all-around.

Two-tone Interior

On the inside, the Strada Athlete has no shortage of black…errr…orange. The seats are wrapped in two-tone orange and black leather. There are also other orange leather accents and orange stitching around including but not limited to the gear shifter, and parking brake lever.

Additional Information

Under the hood, the Strada Athlete is powered by a 2.4-liter MIVEC Turbo Clean Diesel engine which also powers the rest of the Strada lineup. It produces 181 horsepower and 430 N-m of torque and is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 4×4 variant allows the ability to select different driving modes via Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD system.

The Strada Athlete also carries over different safety features from the GT 4×4 such as Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System, Trailer Stability Assist, Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, Multi Around View Monitor, and Automatic High Beams.

The Strada Athlete is available with a choice of three colors: White Diamond, Jet Black Mica, and Sunflare Orange. Pricing starts at Php 1,443,000 for the 4×2 variant and tops up at Php 1,760,000 for the 4×4 variant.
