MG HS now in PH, starts at Php 1.158M

Say hello to the 2022 MG HS, the latest model to join the Sino-British brand’s Philippine lineup. The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI), MG’s local distributor, revealed the new model to various members of the local automotive media in a face-to-face preview, conducted by batch with limited capacity each in the past few days.

First revealed in 2018, the MG HS is now in the country and is available in two variants: the 1.5 TST Alpha and 1.5 TST Trophy. It is set to compete in the compact crossover category with the likes of the very popular Ford Territory, the Geely Azkarra, and Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, among others.

Looking at the outside, the HS is undeniably an MG, wearing an appearance similar to that of the smaller and very popular ZS subcompact crossover, but elevated. It features MG’s signature Stardust front grille and sporty lines all around. Standard exterior equipment starting from the Alpha are halogen headlights, halogen fog lights, LED taillights, roof rails, and 18-inch Diamond-cut alloy wheels. Going for the Trophy adds LED headlights with “Snake Light,” and a power tailgate.

Inside, the HS gets a mixed sporty and premium design. Standard interior equipment starting from the Alpha are leather-style seats, multifunction steering wheel, electronic manual climate control, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 6-speaker audio system, and a panoramic sunroof. The Trophy adds Leather  Sport Bucket Seats, power-adjustable front passenger seat, auto-dimming rear view mirror, cooled storage, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, interior ambient lighting, and dual zone automatic climate control.

Under the hood, the 2022 MG HS for the Philippines is exclusively powered by a 1.5-liter Inline 4-cylinder DOHC Direct Injection Turbocharged Engine that produces 167 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, paired to a 7-speed Twin-clutch Sportronic Transmission (TST or wet-type dual-clutch transmission). The Trophy variant also gets a Super Sport mode.

Standard safety features on the 2022 MG HS are dual front airbags, side airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, cornering brake control, electronic stability program, hill hold control, hill descent control, anti-roll protection, tire pressure monitoring system, and ISOFIX childseat anchor points. The Trophy variant adds blind-spot information system, rear cross-traffic alert, rear driver alert, and lane change assist.

Available colors for the MG HS are Brighton Blue, Extreme Speed Red, Pearl White, Meteorite Black, and Moon White. MG Philippines is also offering it for an introductory price of Php 1,158,888 for the 1.5 TST Alpha, and Php 1,208,888 for the 1.5 TST Trophy, until April 31, 2022. After that, both variants will be priced at Php 1,258,888 and Php 1,308,888, respectively.

All MG HS buyers will also be able to take advantage of a 5-year or 100,000 km, whichever comes first, warranty plus 2-year roadside assistance, and 1-year free periodic maintenance service (PMS). The 2022 MG HS is now available in all 39 MG dealerships around the Philippines.
