MG Philippines has a new president

SAIC Motor, the parent company of SAIC Motor Philippines, Inc. (SMPI), has appointed a new president to lead the distribution of MG vehicles in the country.

Taking over from outgoing and pioneering President Mr. Felix Jiang is Wei Wei Zhang who brings extensive experience, especially from the region, previously heading MG Indonesia, also as its president.

Zhang was also a part of the ASEAN Partner Group at SAIC Motor’s Shanghai headquarters where he oversaw all ASEAN markets, having been instrumental in driving growth and strategic initiatives across multiple Southeast Asian markets, according to SMPI’s press release. With his appointment to the Philippines is expected to continue the brand’s momentum in the country’s competitive automotive landscape.

Meanwhile, Felix Jiang will be reassigned under MG Australia. Under his leadership in the Philippines, the MG brand saw record-breaking sales in 2024, gained segment leadership among sedans with 1.5-liter displacement engines, and also consistently ranked among the top 10 automotive brands in the country, on top of several new model launches.

We are deeply grateful to Mr. Jiang for his visionary leadership and significant contributions to MG Philippines’ success,” said MG Philippines Vice President Karl Magsuci. “At the same time, we are confident that Mr. Zhang’s experience, regional insight, and strategic vision will lead MG Philippines into its next phase of growth, further strengthening our commitment to delivering innovative, sustainable mobility solutions to our customers.”
