MG sales in PH increase by 49%
MG has always been a strong contender in the Philippine market ever since the brand was first reintroduced locally in late 2018 under The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI).
For the first nine months of 2021, MG Philippines reports sales figures of 4,258 units. That’s a 49% increase versus the same period in 2020, marking the brand’s robust year-on-year growth. MG Philippines also ended Q3 2021 on a high note recording 725 unit sales in September 2021, the highest month of sales so far for the brand in 2021.
The MG 5 subcompact sedan and ZS subcompact crossover are the best-selling models for the brand. From January to September 2021, total sales of the former are recorded at 1,159 units. Meanwhile, the latter reported a sale of 2,979 units over the same period. Compared to their YTD sales figures in 2020, both reflect marked increases at 51% and 67% for the MG 5 and ZS, respectively.
“We are happy that MG Philippines successfully weathered the challenges brought about by the global pandemic, and achieved accelerated growth in sales performance over the past two years. This is a testament to the collective efforts and support of our principals at SMIL, the trust and commitment of our dealer partners, and the grit and experience of the TCCCI stewards. With these, MG Philippines was able to effectively adopt new and more efficient sales processes, implement exciting product offers, and execute marketing strategies that resulted in the brand’s continued growth and exceptional sales performance thus far in 2021,” says Atty. Alberto B. Arcilla, President and CEO of MG Philippines.
He adds, “The wisdom and experience of the TCCCI board and management allowed MG Philippines to quickly pivot to the unique situation brought about by the pandemic. TCCCI acknowledges that the market’s appreciation is heightened by the inherent strengths of a heritage car brand like MG. With our exciting product offers, value-added aftermarket services, a growing nationwide dealership network, and the support from all our valued MG stakeholders—our clients, dealers, bank, and media colleagues—MG Philippines is able to achieve and sustain its sales projections and overall upward trajectory.”
MG Philippines is targeting to end 2021 even stronger, starting Q4 2021 after the recent introduction of the new ZST variant of its popular subcompact crossover. It is the first MG to enter the Philippines sporting MG’s updated global design language.
Furthermore, MG Philippines continues to offer aggressive promo deals on all its modern, attainable, British heritage models with the “10 for 10 with MG” sales promo. Expect low down payment options or generous cash discounts on all MG models until the end of the year, and free 1-year periodic maintenance service (PMS) for select MG cars purchased from any of MG Philippines’ 39 accredited dealerships nationwide.
In this last quarter of 2021, MG Philippines says they still have more in store for Filipinos who want to drive home their very own MG car.
