MIAS 2022: MG 5 receives new Core Plus variant in PH
After introducing the new HS compact crossover a month prior, MG Philippines took advantage of the 2022 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) to introduce a new variant for its subcompact sedan entry, the MG 5.
New for 2022, the MG 5 Core Plus gets some additional niceties over the standard and very popular MG 5 Core CVT variant, making it true to its tagline of “Big in Features, Big in Comfort,” according to MG Philippines.
Looking at the outside, the MG 5 Core Plus remains the same as the standard Core with its halogen projector headlights, 15-inch steel wheels with hubcaps, and black fabric interior. Additional features for this variant are a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a reverse camera, and two additional speakers for the audio system (making a total of 6-speakers).
Under the hood, the MG 5 Core Plus is still powered by a 1.5-liter Inline 4-cylinder DOHC naturally-aspirated petrol engine with DVVT that produces 112 horsepower and 150 Nm of torque, paired to a continuously variable transmission.
The MG 5 Core Plus is now available at all 41 MG dealerships nationwide. It has a suggested retail price of Php 748,888 but can be had for a discounted price of Php 683,888 or with a low downpayment of Php 63,000 for financing customers.
Buyers are also entitled to a 5-year or 100,000 kilometer warranty, whichever comes first, and 1-year free periodic maintenance service (PMS). MG Philippines also provides 24/7 roadside support.
