MIAS 2025 | All-new MG ZS Hybrid makes PH debut but you can’t have one yet

The MG ZS is one model that gave the Sino-British automaker a strong footing in our market. Seven years and two distributor changes later, the second generation has arrived in the Philippines, previewed at the 20th Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).

Revealed in August last year, the all-new MG ZS builds on the success of its predecessor, and brings with it a complete redesign, new technology, and a new electrified powertrain under the hood.

Let’s start with the design. The MG ZS Hybrid follows the latest design language seen on other MG models such as the MG 3 hatchback, giving it a bolder and more stand-out appearance. The sides and rear remain simple but continue to follow the brand’s design language.

Exterior features include LED headlights and daytime running lights, 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, a sunroof, and roof rails.

Stepping inside the cabin will reveal a familiar design, taking cues from other models such as the Nissan Magnite and Lamborghini Urus, whichever goes into your mind, with its hexagonal air vent design and use of sharper lines on the dashboard.

Features here include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a seven-inch digital instrument cluster, and leather seats.

As mentioned, the new generation brings the ZS into the world of electrification with its new hybrid powertrain.

That’s composed of a 1.5-liter Inline four-cylinder gasoline engine paired to a 100kW/250Nm electric motor and 1.83 kWh battery. This series-parallel hybrid system produces a total combined output of 196 horsepower and 465 Nm of torque. MG also quotes a fuel economy figure of up to 25km/L.

In terms of safety, along with the new generation comes the MG PILOT suite of advanced driver-assist systems now becoming standard on the subcompact crossover. This equips it with adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot detection, and traffic jam assist.

Curious about pricing? Well, MG Philippines has not gotten to announcing that just yet as this is only a preview. Given that their vehicles have always been competitive in that regard, we won’t be surprised to see this come very affordable.
