MIAS 2025 | BYD formally launches the eMAX 7 fully-electric MPV

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, BYD just cannot seem to run out of new models to bring to our market. This time the Chinese automaker is launching the eMAX 7 at the 2025 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).
The first fully-electric MPV in the Philippine market, it aims to steal some sales from established models such as the Toyota Innova and Zenix, Mitsubishi Xpander, Suzuki Ertiga, and many others.

Two variants of the BYD eMAX 7 are available for our market. They are as follows along with their prices:
- eMAX7 Standard (7-seater) – Php 1,498,000
- eMAX7 Superior Captain (6-seater) – Php 1,748,000
You can read all about the different specifications and features through this link, but we still have the basics here for you.

For starters, its powertrain. It gets a single electric motor up front producing 163 horsepower with a 55.4kWh battery for a range of 420km on the Standard, or 204 horsepower with a larger 71.8kWh battery for a range of 530km on the Superior Captain. Regardless of variant, the motor produces 310 Nm of torque and the batteries can be recharged via Type 2 AC Charging or CCS2 DC Fast Charging.

The bulbous exterior wears what BYD calls its Dragon Face 3.0 design language with sleek lines and design cues all throughout. The interior is simple and elegant with a standard brown colorway, the BYD usual rotating touchscreen, and plenty of other convenience features.

The Standard provides seating for seven occupants with its second row bench seat and 2+3+2 layout, while the Superior Captain provides seating for six occupants with its second row captain’s chairs and 2+2+2 layout.

The BYD eMAX 7 surely has a lot in its sleeve, especially with it being the first-of-its-kind in the segment. Did BYD make it right by bring this as a full EV or should they have introduced it as a plug-in hybrid DM-i instead?
