MIAS 2025 | The Hyundai Elantra makes its PH comeback, price starts at Php 1.065M

Hyundai has been absent from the local compact sedan scene for quite some time, relinquishing all its possible sales to the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla Altis. Yes, there’s the Elantra N but that does not count as it’s in a whole different segment.

That changes now as Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) brings back the “regular” Elantra compact sedan, launching at the 20th Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), and ready to fight its Japanese and Chinese rivals.

The comeback is marked by the introduction of an expansive line of five variants. They are as follows along with their prices:

  • Elantra 1.6 GL STD – Php 1,065,000
  • Elantra 1.6 GL – Php 1,140,000
  • Elantra 1.6 HEV GLS – Php 1,480,800
  • Elantra 1.6 HEV Premium – Php 1,680,800
  • Elantra 1.6T N Line – Php 1,795,800

Style-wise, the Hyundai Elantra sports the brand’s Parametric Jewel design language with its angular lines front, side, and back. The interior is what you would expect from pretty much every Hyundai these days with its sleek and premium ambiance.

Standard exterior features starting on the entry-level GL STD variant are 15-inch alloy wheels, a digital-style instrument cluster with 4.2-inch information display, eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and black fabric seats.

Going for the GL adds 16-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, and a six-speaker audio system. Meanwhile, the HEV GLS adds LED fog lights and taillights, push button start, electronic parking brake, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and black leather seats.

The HEV Premium adds a leather steering wheel, wireless phone charger, and power-adjustable driver seat. Finally, the N Line adds N Line body kits, 18-inch N alloy wheels, dual projection LED headlights, sport bucket seats, red stitching, and heated front seats.

Also, for this comeback, the Hyundai Elantra offers not one, not two, but three different powertrain options.

The GL variants are powered by a 1.6-liter Smartstream G MPI engine that produces a humble 128 horsepower and 155 Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

HEV GLS and Premium variants also get a 1.6-liter engine, but this time is paired with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery. It produces a combined 141 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission

Finally, the top-spec N Line variant gets a 1.6-liter Smartstream G turbo engine that makes 204 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

HEV Premium and N Line variants of the Hyundai Elantra are also equipped with the Hyundai Smartsense suite of advanced driver-assist features. This gives it forward collision avoidance assist, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, lane following assist, and lane keeping assist.

Now that’s a lot for a model that has been absent for a while. It shows that HMPH believes that this model will be a success. What do you think of the new 2025 Hyundai Elantra?
