2024 Mitsubishi Strada teased, revealing next month

It won’t be too long as Mitsubishi Motors is showing us that we are getting closer to the much-awaited reveal of the all-new 6th generation of its Strada pickup truck, known as the Triton and L200 in many other markets, on July 26, 2023.

The Japanese automaker has released a set of teaser images and videos, a few months after showing off its concept version, known as the XRT, at the 2023 Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) earlier this year.

Based on the shadowy images, it looks like the all-new Strada will be very identical to the Mitsubishi XRT Concept, and adapts a much more rugged and tougher exterior appearance. We’re seeing the new and boxier version of Mitsubishi’s signature Dynamic Shield grille, as well as in typical Mitsubishi fashion, a pair of split headlights with the upper portion being the LED daytime running lights, and the lower being the T-shaped headlights.

We’re also seeing a more traditional pickup truck body shape, making the overall look more cohesive compared to the outgoing current generation. The rear also looks more muscular with large T-shaped taillights.

There are no teaser images of its actual interior but the teaser video did show some sketches of what its interior could look like. Based on that, it will make use of more horizontal lines and flatter surfaces, compared to the curvier surfaces of the outgoing model, as well as a floating-style infotainment system.

Speaking of that, a separate teaser video also shows what appears to be a Nissan-sourced infotainment system which is not surprising considering Nissan’s ownership of Mitsubishi Motors. Parts sharing between the two brands is already common such as on the Xpander and Outlander.

Other than those, not much information is available yet about this new generation pickup truck. We’re hoping that it’ll come with an improved version of the current 2.4-liter 4N15 turbodiesel which we think is one of the best-in-class even with its lower output figures.

With the Strada (or Triton/L200), as well as its Montero Sport SUV sibling, being among Mitsubishi Motors’ most popular models ever since its inception, it is definitely crucial that the Japanese automaker gets this right. Again, its reveal will happen on July 26, 2023.
