All-new Subaru Crosstrek to launch in PH next month, price to start at Php 1.998M

The third generation of the Subaru XV is set to arrive in the Philippines soon…well, kinda. Now known as the Crosstrek globally, Motor Image Pilipinas, the official distributor of Subaru vehicles locally, has announced its upcoming launch.

Apparently supposed to appear at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) two months ago, but delayed due to shipping problems, the Subaru Crosstrek remains as the Japanese automaker’s entry into the subcompact crossover segment, competing directly with the likes of the Toyota Corolla Cross and Honda HR-V.

In terms of look, the all-new Crosstrek still remains as rugged as ever but with a sleeker and sharper overall look, while still retaining the overall hatchback-like body shape that the XV has been known for since its first generation. We can expect features such as full LED exterior lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a whole lot of body cladding.

Three new exterior colors will also be made available and these are Oasis Blue, Offshore Blue Metallic, and Sun Blaze Pearl.

As expected, its interior is largely similar to other Subaru vehicles like the Outback and WRX with its large central touchscreen display, 11.6-inches in size for the Crosstrek, while the front seats have been made more ergonomic for better support and comfort. We can also expect leather upholstery to be standard.

Its powertrain has not yet been confirmed but it is highly likely that we will still get the same 2.0-liter FB20D Boxer engine from the outgoing generation XV. It still produces 154 horsepower and 196 Nm of torque, paired to a Lineartronic CVT that sends power to all four wheels.

Meanwhile, being a Subaru, the Crosstrek will come standard with the EyeSight suite of advanced driver-assistance technology, specifically EyeSight 4.0. This latest version adds a monocular camera to the dual camera setup of previous versions which allows better detection of pedestrians and bicycles at low speeds. Also standard are Autonomous Emergency Steering (AES), Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), and Lane Centering Function (LCF), among 100 other safety features.

Well it seems like Motor Image Pilipinas is quite excited as they have also already announced pricing and variants for the Crosstrek. Unlike the outgoing XV, it will be available in two variants, the 2.0 i-L EyeSight which will be priced at Php 1,998,000, and the 2.0 i-S EyeSight which will be priced at Php 2,018,000.

Motor Image Pilipinas will be launching the Subaru Crosstrek in the country on July 19, 2023. Reservations are already open as well.
