SPOTTED: New Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV seen anew on PH roads

If there’s one model from Mitsubishi that we really are looking forward to it’s the new Outlander compact SUV. Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has yet to introduce the new fourth generation in our market and still currently offers the previous generation Outlander PHEV.

It looks like we won’t really have to wait too long though as we spotted a unit of the new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (plug-in hybrid) while driving in Biñan, Laguna, in fairly close proximity to MMPC’s local manufacturing plant.

We’re actually sure that the Outlander PHEV we spotted is owned by MMPC as it sports a conduction sticker that starts with the letter “Y” which is currently assigned to the Japanese automaker. In addition, the same unit was already spotted before on a driveway in a venue where the company was holding a private event.

The fourth generation Mitsubishi Outlander was unveiled in 2021, built on the same platform as the Nissan X-Trail which is also yet to be launched here. Anyway, the Outlander is completely new with its overall design that is heavily based on the Engelberg Tourer concept. The front fascia features an evolved version of Mitsubishi’s signature Dynamic Shield Design language.

Powering the plug-in hybrid version is a carry-over 2.4-liter 4B12 Inline 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated MIVEC gasoline engine from the previous generation, paired with a larger 20 kWh lithium-ion battery and more powerful electric motor. Its total output is 251 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. It also has a full electric driving range of 61 km.

We don’t know when Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation plans to introduce this all-new Outlander. Given that it’s already here in the country, hopefully within the next few months.
