All-new Mitsubishi Triton coming to PH in January 2024, to drop ‘Strada’ name
The all-new Mitsubishi Triton was just revealed a few weeks ago. Having been known as the Strada here in the Philippines since its third generation, things are changing. Announced today at the Mitsubishi Motors Philippines 60th Anniversary Expo, the Strada nameplate is saying goodbye.
That may sound sad but don’t worry, we’re still getting the new pickup truck except it will now be called the Triton just like how it is in other markets like Thailand, Malaysia, and Australia.
Given that the Strada is such a seasoned, if not iconic nameplate, you would probably be wondering why Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) would choose to change its name. Well the reason is simple, globalization. Like mentioned, the Triton name is used in markets like Thailand (where our units are sourced from), Malaysia, and Australia. Basically all our neighbors use the Triton name.
The all-new Mitsubishi Triton was initially previewed as the XRT Concept, unveiled during the 2023 Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) in March. The concept vehicle is also currently displayed at the anniversary expo, along with the Mitsubishi XFC Concept (revealed today as the Mitsubishi XForce in Indonesia).
The all-new Triton was fully revealed two weeks ago with a completely new look inside and out, riding on a new platform with a new chassis, new engine, and new technology. More information about it can be found here.
Anyway, you’re probably also wondering when the all-new Triton will arrive in the Philippines. Well, we won’t have to wait too long as MMPC is expecting to launch it in January 2024, just a little over 4 months from now which is not too bad if you ask us.
