2024 Honda CR-V announced for PH, hybrid confirmed, standard Honda SENSING
Probably Honda’s most awaited new model to enter the Philippine market this year, the launch of the all-new CR-V compact SUV has just been confirmed.
Now in its sixth generation, the all-new Honda CR-V had its global debut last year in North America, followed by its regional debut for the ASEAN region in March this year. Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has finally confirmed its arrival and a couple of details. This comes just a few days to a week after a unit was spotted on local roads.
First, the all-new Honda CR-V will be available in three variants once launched. The lineup will start with the 1.5 V Turbo CVT, followed by the mid-spec 1.5 VX Turbo CVT AWD, and topped-of with the 2.0 RS e:HEV E-CVT. And yes, the top-of-the-line variant of the CR-V will come with Honda’s e:HEV powertrain which is a hybrid. This also marks the return of Honda in the local electrification scene after previously discontinuing the CR-Z and Legend which were both solely available with hybrid powertrains.
Honda’s e:HEV system for this generation CR-V combines a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated gasoline engine and dual electric motors. HCPI has not confirmed the numbers this powertrain combination produces but looking at other markets like Thailand, we can expect it to make 207 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque, a lot more than the very popular turbodiesel option from the previous generation which will be discontinued.
The new generation CR-V’s local introduction will also mark the first time the model will come with the option of a turbocharged gasoline engine. The V and VX variants will be powered by a 1.5-liter Inline 4-cylinder VTEC Turbo engine. Also looking at other markets, this is expected to produce 190 hp and 240 Nm.
HCPI also confirmed that the all-new CR-V will be the first model in their lineup to come equipped with Honda CONNECT. Utilizing smart telematics technology, this will allow users to have a seamless connection with their cars via a smartphone application for an enhanced ownership experience. Honda SENSING, the Japanese automaker’s suite of advanced safety tech, will also be standard on all variants.
What HCPI failed to mention if the all-new CR-V will retain the options for 5- or 7-seater configurations. Anyway, more details about the all-new Honda CR-V and what we can expect, based on the Thai-market where HCPI sources local units of the model, can be found here.
HCPI has not announced exact pricing but they did give some estimates which are as follows:
- 1.5 V Turbo CVT – Php 2,150,000
- 1.5 VX Turbo CVT AWD – Php 2,300,000
- 2.0 RS e:HEV E-CVT – Php 2,600,000
Knowing HCPI, expect them to lower these prices by around Php 10,000 upon launch. This was the case when they launched the all-new HR-V and BR-V, as well as refreshed versions of the Brio and City.
