All-new 2024 Honda CR-V is here: Variants, Specs, Pricing
About a year after making its global debut in North America last year, and a few months after its regional debut for the ASEAN Region in Thailand this year, the all-new Honda CR-V is finally here in the Philippines.
Now in its sixth generation since the nameplate first came out in 1997, the all-new Honda CR-V brings with its plenty of enhancements in the mechanical, technological, and convenience aspects, in addition to a completely new look inside and out.
Let’s start with the lineup. The all-new Honda CR-V is available in three variants starting with the entry-level 1.5 V Turbo CVT, followed by the mid-grade 1.5 VX Turbo CVT AWD, both are 7-seaters. The lineup is topped off with the 2.0 RS e:HEV E-CVT which is a 5-seater.
And yes, what’s under the hood of the all-new Honda CR-V is where it gets the biggest and most important changes with a completely new set of gasoline-powered engine options, including a hybrid powertrain, with the previous generation’s popular turbodiesel and the decade-old i-VTEC gasoline engine no longer being offered.
For starters the V and VX variants get the Honda Accord’s 1.5-liter L15BE Inline 4-cylinder DOHC VTEC Turbo gasoline engine that produces 190 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque, mated to an Earth Dreams CVT. Power is sent to the front wheels on the V, and to all four on the VX through Honda’s Realtime AWD.
Meanwhile, electrification is back in Honda’s local lineup as the top-spec RS variant gets a new 2.0-liter Inline 4-cylinder direct-injection gasoline engine that runs on the Atkinson Cycle. This is paired to dual electric motors and a lithium-ion battery. This provides the CR-V with a combined total of 207 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque, mated to an E-CVT. That is a huge improvement compared to the previous generation’s turbodiesel engine that made 120 hp and 300 Nm.
In terms of design, the all-new Honda CR-V takes on a more conservative, but still sporty and premium appearance, with design cues shared with other new models in the Japanese automaker’s lineup. In front is a large honeycomb grille flanked by slim headlights, matched with an angular bumper. The rear is unmistakably CR-V with a set of wraparound vertical taillights which get a sharper redesign.
Standard exterior features starting from the entry-level V variant are full LED headlights with DRLs, LED taillights, LED front fog lights chrome grille accent, rear tailgate spoiler, power folding side mirrors, and silver-painted 18-inch alloy wheels. The VX AWD adds piano black front grille trim and rain sensing wipers. Finally, the top-spec RS gets auto-leveling headlights, cornering lights, rear fog lights, panoramic sunroof, body-colored body cladding, and blacked-out 18-inch alloy wheels.
Available exterior colors for all variants are Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, and a new Canyon River Blue Metallic. Exclusive to the V and VX AWD is Lunar Silver Metallic, while exclusive to the RS e:HEV is Ignite Red Metallic.
Inside, the all-new Honda CR-V follows the Japanese automaker’s Simplicity & Something design concept just like on its Civic compact sedan sibling, even sharing a similar appearance with the honeycomb mesh for the climate vents running across the dashboard. It also gets more upmarket materials.
Standard interior equipment starting from the entry-level V variant are leather seats, 8-way power adjustable driver seat with memory function, 4-way power adjustable front passenger seat, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 8-speaker audio system, tri-zone automatic climate control, and 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster. The VX AWD adds a conversation mirror and wood trim. Finally, the RS e:HEV adds red interior stitching, 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, heads-up display, dual zone automatic climate control, and brushed metal trim.
In terms of technology, the all-new Honda CR-V is quite equipped with Honda SENSING now standard on all variants, giving it Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keep Assist System, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, Auto High Beam, and Lead Car Departure Notification. The RS e:HEV gets additional Adaptive Driving Beam function. It is also the first Honda model locally to get a 360-degree around-view monitor, paired with Honda’s LaneWatch camera and multi-view reverse camera.
In addition, it is also the first Honda model locally to be equipped with Honda CONNECT. This allows the vehicle to be connected with its owner through a smartphone app where it can provide the following functions:
- Automatic Collision Detection
- Security Alarm
- Speed Alert
- Geo Fence
- Find My Car
- Emergency Call
- Car Status
- Vehicle Dashboard
- Remote Vehicle Control
- Service Reminder
