Volvo PH confirms upcoming arrival of C40 and XC40 Recharge models

A few months ago, Volvo Philippines announced the arrival of two new fully-electric vehicle models in the market. They however did not confirm what exactly they will be introducing. That changes now.

The Swedish luxury automaker has finally announced what those two models are which are both set to arrive in the coming months. Volvo Philippines will be launching the C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge models.

We are thrilled to introduce two purely electrifying models – the Volvo C40 and the Volvo XC40. These models both carry Volvo Cars’ ambition of becoming a fully electric car company by 2030. We believe it’s time for the Philippine market to discover the benefits of driving a pure electric Volvo car and experience for themselves what sustainable mobility is,” said Volvo Philippines President and CEO Atty. Albert Arcilla.

Dubbed as the “twins,” the Volvo C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge share a couple of similarities such as their platform, and their powertrains. Both are powered by a 183 kWh permanent magnet electric motor and 117 kWh asynchronous electric motor, paired with an 82 kWh battery pack. All combined, they produce 408 horsepower and 660 Nm of torque, sending power to all four wheels.

In terms of range, the XC40 Recharge Twin Motor AWD can drive up to 537 kilometers on a single charge while the C40 Recharge Twin Motor AWD can drive up to 549 kilometers

In terms of design, the two are unmistakably Volvo with its signature Thor’s Hammer headlights that come with pixel LED light technology. Both also get new 19-inch alloy wheels which improve aerodynamics. Differentiating the two is the C40 Recharge’s sloping coupé-like roof line.

Pricing for the Volvo C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge have not yet been announced but with the launch happening this coming October 4, 2023, we won’t have to wait too long to find out.
