Changan CS55 Plus ‘Luxe’ variant returns for Php 1.310M

When the Changan CS55 Plus was first launched in the Philippines under the Chinese automaker’s previous distributor in November last year, it came with three variants—Lite, Hype, and Luxe. Not even after a year, the top-spec Luxe variant was discontinued.

We don’t know why exactly it was discontinued but some reports say that it was in order to keep it priced far lower than the smaller Uni-T crossover which is priced at Php 1.679-million. Regardless, with the relaunch of the Changan brand under Inchcape Philippines, the CS55 Plus Luxe is back.

In terms of features, the CS55 Plus Luxe gets a handful of upgrades compared to the Hype variant. The Luxe gets additions of a different 19-inch alloy wheel design, intelligent high beam function, a power tailgate with height memory function, a 15W wireless phone charger, integrated adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and traffic jam assist.

Other standard features remain the same such as full LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, panoramic sunroof, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, 6-speaker Pioneer audio system, and a 10-inch fully digital driver’s instrument cluster, among others.

Under the hood, the Changan CS55 Plus Luxe gets the same engine as the rest of the lineup. That’s a 1.5-liter NE15 Inline 4-cylinder turbocharged GDi (TGDi) engine that produces a healthy 188 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission sending power to the front wheels.

As for pricing, the Changan CS55 Plus Luxe is now more affordable compared to before, now priced at Php 1,310,000 or Php 63,000 cheaper than before it was previously discontinued. Meanwhile, the Lite and Hype variants remain with similar prices of Php 1,179,000 (same) and Php 1,279,000 (less Php 4,000), respectively.
