Initial batch of Omoda 5 units have arrived in PH ahead of launch
It may have been a while since the Omoda brand was announced to come to the Philippines but we’re certainly getting closer to the Chinese automaker’s brand launch as the initial batch of units of their launch model, the Omoda 5 crossover, has finally arrived in the country.
This was announced today by Omoda and Jaecoo Philippines (O&J Philippines) in a release sent to members of local motoring media. The units will be used for pre-launch activities and previews.
O&J Philippines Country Director Marco Chen, who is based in the company’s home province of Anhui in China, also flew into the country to inspect the first batch of units himself.
Also confirmed are the four variants of the Omoda 5 where the first two will come with 1.5L turbocharged gasoline engines while the two higher spec variants will be fully electric with options of a short or extended range powertrain. The latter can go for as much as 450 kilometers on a single charge.
“We are excited to finally have the actual Omoda 5 units in the country. This way, we can have an avenue to offer our stakeholders, media partners and potential clients a full-on experience with the car even before it’s formal launch. We also have some pre-launch activities in the pipeline that’s geared towards building more confidence with our products”, said Uzzi Asuncion, Brand Manager for Omoda and Jaecoo in the Philippines.
The Omoda and Jaecoo brands are scheduled hold their soft launch in the Philippine market before the end of 2023, while retail sales are scheduled to start in the early part of 2024.
