2025 Toyota Camry is bolder, more powerful, and safer

Midsize sedans and sedans in general may no longer be as popular these days with the rise of crossovers of different sizes, but they are not a thing of the past yet with Toyota taking the wraps off the all-new Camry.

The most popular midsize sedan nameplate in the world today, the Toyota Camry started production in 1979, known then as the Celica Camry, and is now in its ninth generation. It also comes at a perfect time as the outgoing generation is starting to feel dated.

In terms of looks, the 2025 Toyota Camry follows the Japanese automaker’s other models in terms of design direction with sleeker and sportier design details. The front fascia takes on a revolutionary redesign with Toyota’s new signature Hammerhead design first seen on the Prius and Crown. It features slim C-shaped headlights and a large Lexus-like lower front grille. The rest of the exterior is somewhat an evolution of the outgoing generation with a similar body and roofline shape, as well as its slim taillights though now also with a C-shaped design.

Sportier variants are also available–SE and XSE, which feature racing-inspired functional aerodynamic air ducts, front-side canards and a rear diffuser. The rear also has an exposed dual-tip exhaust as well as a rear lip spoiler. The XSE adds a color-matched front grille and black trunk garnish. Wheel sizes range from 18-inches to 19-inches depending on the variant.

Inside, the all-new Toyota Camry takes on a more modern and upright design with the horizontal theme. As with most new vehicles, screens dominate the dashboard with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system on lower variants, or dual 12.3-inch screens on higher variants, of course with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. A 9-speaker JBL premium audio system is also available as an option.

For those seeking premiumness, the XLE variant features leather-trimmed seats with Dinamica microfibre in light gray or black, with a quilted pattern on the door trims and dashboard. Sporty variants feature options of Softex leather or real leather in color options of black with blue perforations, or Cockpit Red.

Powering the 2025 Toyota Camry is a 2.5-liter Inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine paired with a fifth generation Toyota Hybrid System (THS 5) which is composed of dual electric motors. It produces a combined 225 horsepower on FWD models, and 232 horsepower on AWD models.

Toyota’s Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive System comes from a dedicated rear electric drive motor generator that automatically supplies power to the rear wheels when needed, providing better traction.

In terms of safety, the 2025 Toyota Camry comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) 3.0. This gives it Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, and Automatic High Beams.

It is also equipped with Proactive Driving Assist (PDA) which uses the vehicle’s cameras and radar to provide gentle braking or steering assistance to support driving tasks such as driving distance and gentle braking into curves.

In addition, higher grades will come with Traffic Jam Assist, Front Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Change Assist, Panoramic View Monitor, and Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking.

The all-new Toyota Camry is set to arrive in North American Toyota dealerships in the first quarter of 2024. With this being an important model for Toyota Motor Philippines, we can probably expect it within next year as well.
