BYD Atto 3 electric crossover officially makes PH launch, prices start at Php 1.598M

Just a little over a month since it was previewed for the Philippine market at the Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS), the BYD Atto 3 fully electric crossover has officially made its local launch.

The Atto 3 is the first new model to join the BYD Philippines lineup after its local distributorship was taken over by AC Motors, a subsidiary of Ayala Corporation, which also handles a handful of other automotive and motorcycle brands.

Two variants of the BYD Atto 3 are available in the Philippines. These are the Dynamic and the Premium. The two are quite similar with the latter getting a handful of enhancements in terms of its powertrain, features, and safety equipment.

Starting with the powertrain, propelling the BYD Atto 3 for the Philippine market is a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor paired with either a 49.92 kWh or 60.48 kWh BYD Blade Battery. It produces 150 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque. With the smaller battery it can go from 0 to 100 kph in 7.9 seconds with a 410 kilometer driving range, while the larger battery allows it to go from 0 to 100 kph in 7.3 seconds and can drive 480 kilometers on a single charge.

Charging can be done via Type 2 AC Charging or CCS2 DC Fast Charging–70 kW on the Dynamic, and 80kW on the Premium. A free 7 kW home charger also comes with the vehicle upon purchase.

In terms of design, the BYD Atto 3 gets a sleek overall exterior appearance with its slim headlights which are connected by a silver-painted bar with the BYD logo. The bumper and side makes use of several creases which give it a more eye-catching look. The rear features full-width wraparound taillights, and a rear spoiler.

The interior on the other hand is certainly quite uniquely designed with plenty of soft curvy lines, showing a rounded theme. The Eclipse Blue and Hazy Grey color scheme also adds a premium touch. It also features a rotating screen which is another unique feature.

The BYD Atto 3 also has quite the extensive standard feature list. Starting from the Dynamic variant, standard features are LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels, power fold and heated side mirrors, synthetic leather seat material, 5-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.8-inch intelligent rotating touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, 6-speaker audio system, 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, automatic climate control, and a wireless phone charger.

Going for the Premium variant adds 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, roof rails, panoramic sunroof, auto-dimming rear view mirror, and interior ambient lighting.

As for safety, the Premium variant of the BYD Atto 3 also gets a suite of advanced driver assistance technology, namely full speed adaptive cruise control with stop and go function, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot detection, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assist.

Pricing for the 2024 BYD Atto 3 starts at a very competitive Php 1,598,000 for the Dynamic variant. Upgrading to the Premium variant brings the price up to Php 1,798,000 which is still very competitive.

With such kind of pricing, we won’t be surprised if the BYD Atto 3 becomes one of the more popular fully electric vehicles in our market, especially given the fact that the BYD Dolphin is already experiencing some kind of popularity. These are certainly good times for our local EV industry.
