Astara is new distributor of JMC pickup trucks in PH
A third brand has been added to the local portfolio of Astara, a global automotive distributor which currently holds the distributorship of Peugeot and GAC in the Philippine market. That new brand is JMC.
JMC, also known formally as Jiangling Motors Corporation, is a Chinese manufacturer that produces various types of vehicles, but focuses more on light commercial vehicles and pickup trucks. Astara will be handling its pickup truck business in the local market.
“We are delighted to collaborate with Astara in the pickup vehicle market. Together, we will offer more choices, better options, and exceptional customer service, all designed to meet the evolving needs of the market and exceed the expectations of Philippine consumers,” said Suen Xiaoquan, President of Jiangxi Jiangling Motors Import & Export Co., Ltd. (JMIE)
“At astara we are honored to include JMC in our distribution activities in The Philippines. This leading brand stands as a great asset to our portfolio in the Philippines, aligning perfectly with astara’s vision for the future of mobility. Our successful representation of the brand in other countries demonstrates our ability to serve its loyal customers, dealer network, and business partners, said Astara CEO Jorge Navea.
The partnership between Astara and JMC began in 2021, with the distributor currently holding the distribution of JMC vehicles in three countries—Chile, Bolivia, and Colombia.
Astara has not yet announced its new model lineup for JMC in the Philippines but it is likely to include the Grand Avenue pickup truck which is featured in their press materials. Details are still scarce as of this writing.
For those who don’t know, JMC also manufactures vehicles for Ford which includes both the previous and current generations of the very popular Territory compact SUV. They also manufacture the equally popular Ford Everest for the Chinese market. With that, the American automaker also owns 32% shares of JMC.
