Toyota to compete in Thailand 10-hour Endurance Race with carbon-neutral fueled vehicles
Toyota is going further past the boundaries of its push for electrified vehicles, this time taking them into the world of motorsports.
The Japanese automaker will be competing in the Idemitsu Super Endurance Southeast Asia Trophy 2023, also known as the Thailand 10-hour Endurance Race, happening at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, on December 22 and 23.
Joining the race are the ORC Rookie GR86 CNF Concept and ORC Rookie GR Corolla H2 Concept. Alongside them will be the CP Rookie Prius CNF HEV GR Concept. All three vehicles will be running on carbon-neutral fuel.
The latter two vehicles are both hydrogen-powered and will be entered in the Super Taikyu series. These two vehicles also competed in the 2022 Thailand 25H Endurance Race. Also good to note that the competing Prius is based on a production vehicle, marking the first time Toyota will be competing with a production Prius HEV.
Among the competing drivers will be Masahiro Sasaki, as well as Daisuke Toyoda and his father who is none other than Toyota Motor Corporation’s Chairman Akio Toyota, also known as Morizo in the world of racing.
