The Subaru WRX STI Sport# is still not the STI we want

It was just a few weeks ago that Subaru teased us with a shadowy image of a higher-spec version of its WRX sports sedan. Sadly, it’s still not the STI we want, but here is the WRX S4 STI Sport#, revealed at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon.

With the # standing for sharp, the Subaru WRX S4 STI Sport# gets upgrades in the form of STI-branded flexible draw tower bar stiffener on the front and flexible draw stiffener on the rear. It also gets a transmission cooler, and 19-inch BBS forged aluminum alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 5 high performance tires.

It does seem like its powertrain remains the same as Subaru did not mention any specifics regarding that. If so, it gets a 2.4-liter horizontally-opposed flat four turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 275 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, mated as mentioned to a CVT dubbed as Subaru Performance Transmission.

In terms of aesthetics, the WRX S4 Sport# gets a black bezel for the full LED headlights, Crystal Black Silica paint finish for the front grille, trunk lip spoiler, and Laster Black painted rear badging. Inside, it gets Recaro front seats wrapped in a mix of Ultrasuede and synthetic leather. Silver stitching can also be found throughout its interior.

An exclusive Offshore Blue Metallic exterior paint job is also available in addition to Ceramic White, Crystal Black Silica, and WR Blue Pearl.

Again, the Subaru WRX S4 STI Sport# is exclusive to the Japanese market, and will be limited to just 500 units. That’s not all, you actually have to take part in a lottery for the chance to purchase one of them.
