General Petroleum Gymkhana Holds Its First Practice Event
General Petroleum Gymkhana held its first ever practice event last April 7, 2024 at Parklinks in Pasig City. The event hosted around 30 drivers all of which wanted to test their skills and learn a thing or two on the specially designed autocross course.
The entry fee for the event is just Php 1,000 per driver for the Community Class with participants getting unlimited practice runs in the morning and two timed runs in the afternoon. If racers want to have another two timed runs they can join the General Petroleum class wherein they will also receive 4 liters of General Petroleum fully synthetic engine oil.
As for prizes the top three finishers for either class will each receive 4 liters of General Petroleum fully synthetic engine oil, this is on top of other prizes that the event offers such as a GP Gymkhana Entry Voucher, that lets the top racer join the next round of the event completely for free.
Aside from being relatively affordable, GP Gymkhana is also inclusive with the event allowing battery-electric vehicles to participate. Those who join the Community Class in an EV can also join the Electric Vehicle Class for free, where the top three drivers also get special prizes.
As for the results of the event itself, Sean See bagged the top spot in his turbocharged Toyota Yaris, which got a time of 84.22 seconds on the tight course.
“You won’t regret this kind of experience,” See said. “It is absolutely a must-try for any racing enthusiast. Drive safe and I’ll see you there!”
Meanwhile, for the General Petroleum class, Felix Macaraig took the top spot in his race-prepped Honda Brio. He was able to get the fastest time of the day of 82.02 seconds.
“It feels very rewarding!” he said of his hard-earned win. “There are a lot of different cars, but the GP Gymkhana is not about the fastest cars – it’s about the fastest drivers.”
For those interested in joining the event, the 2nd Practice round is slated to happen on May 12, 2024 with special discounts and promos awaiting those who bring their mothers to the event day.
