Auto China 2024 | Nissan showcases two EVs and two PHEV concepts at the Beijing Motor Show
Nissan has unveiled four new energy vehicles (NEVs) at the 2024 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition in China. These new concepts showcase the brand’s latest achievements and its direction in electrification. Once these concept cars become production vehicles, they will be made with Nissan’s local partner in China, Dongfeng.
However, that’s not all that Nissan has up its sleeve as it also announced during the event that it will launch one more NEV for the Chinese market, bringing the brand’s total planned vehicle launches for China to five vehicles by fiscal year 2026.
“To achieve sustainable growth in the rapidly changing Chinese market, Nissan is committed to a China-tailored strategy as we announced in our new business plan, ‘The Arc’. Starting with new energy vehicles to be based on the concepts unveiled today, Nissan will build a balanced product portfolio of diverse and competitive new models. Our aim will be to provide a more exciting mobility experience to all customers in China,” said Nissan Motor President & CEO Makoto Uchida.
As for the concept vehicles we begin with the Nissan Epoch Concept, which is an EV sedan that is designed for urban and suburban go-getters. It is equipped with AI-expanded software and even comes with a virtual assistant (VA). The Japanese automaker also states that the new VA will make life easier for the user as it will possess software that can recognize emotions.
Up next is the Nissan Epic Concept, which is an EV SUV that aims for the more adventurous buyer. It features autonomous driving for both city and highways, and can even serve as a mobile power source for your campsite or for your outdoor parties. Aside from this, it even has on-board technologies to support and create a relaxing atmosphere.
For the plug-in hybrids, the Japanese automaker has brought out the Nissan Era Concept, which takes the form of an SUV. It fits in with the young business people who treat their car as a second home. It comes with an interconnected entertainment system and zero-gravity seats, its advanced e-4ORCE all-wheel control and active air suspension provide both a comfortable and confident drive.
Rounding out the concept cars is the Nissan Evo Concept plug-in hybrid. Not to be confused with a vehicle from another Japanese automaker, this one is a sedan that is ideal for weekend getaways. It has advanced driver support and safety functions, plus it even has an AI-enhanced virtual personal assistant that helps properly deliver the intended drive and journey.
