Omoda 7 unveiled in China, will it come to PH?

Omoda is a fairly young brand, having only been launched in April 2023, a little over a year ago. As such, the Chinese automaker is expanding its lineup with new models and that’s what we witnessed now in their hometown of Wuhu, China.

Unveiled for the brand’s global markets is the new Omoda 7 compact crossover, slotting above the Omoda 5 subcompact, and is the brand’s current largest offering.

On the outside, the Omoda 7 is sleek and minimalist, wearing what’s dubbed as the Stylish 360 design with its X-shaped front and rear fascia, and Digital Pixel Design for the borderless parametric grille

Inside, it features what Omoda calls the Double Cylinder 3D cockpit with its sleek and minimalist design. They also seem to like playing games, literally. For starters, it comes with a two-spoke gaming-style steering wheel which is inspired by a gaming controller. It also has Sport Gaming Seats with a quilted pattern and wrapped in Nubuck leather

When it comes to tech and convenience, the Omoda 7 features a 15.6-inch central touchscreen where most of the vehicle’s functions can be accessed. Unlike other vehicles which have a rotating screen, this one slides in order to give easier access to the front passenger. It is also paired to a 14-speaker Sony audio system

Details were not so clear on what will be powering the Omoda 7. What we do know is that it is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and can drive on a single full tank of gasoline for around 1,200 kilometers.

Omoda also says that the 7 will have a safe and convenient drive as it will come with 18 different features under the brand’s advanced driver-assistance suite. It will also come equipped with an Auto Parking Assist System and a 540-degree around-view monitor.

There is no exact mention yet whether the Omoda 7 will be introduced in the Philippine market but it would definitely be an integral part of the brand’s local lineup once they officially start vehicle sales. The Omoda 7 is slated to arrive in global markets in early 2025.
