The 2025 Honda Civic is the most-powerful non-Type R Civic

Earlier this year, Honda revealed the updated Civic compact sedan for the North American market. This comes three years after the current FE generation came out in 2021, just in time for Honda’s standard mid-cycle refresh timeline.

While this new Civic still looks very familiar with what we’re used to, it does get some exterior and interior enhancements with a few new design details, as well as a new hybrid powertrain which we’ll start with.

Under the hood of the 2025 Honda Civic is a new 2.0-liter Atkinson Cycle Inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine that is paired with a dual electric motor hybrid system. This makes it the most powerful non-Type R Civic with a total combined output of 200 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque. This powertrain also replaces the 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo which first came out on the previous FC generation Civic.

On the other hand, the lower LX and Sport variants will continue to get a 2.0-liter Inline 4-cylinder i-VTEC engine making 160 horsepower and 187 Nm of torque, mated to a CVT.

As we already saw before, the 2025 Honda Civic’s exterior gets a new angular front bumper with larger upper and lower front grille designs which also get a honeycomb mesh pattern. Noticeable is the lack of front fog lights which have been removed for this refresh. There is also a new set of wheel designs and darker taillight lenses.

As for the interior enhancements that Honda previously announced, a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system is now available for the US-market. These we already get on our local-spec Civic 1.5 RS Turbo CVT variant. Anyway, the Sport Touring Hybrid variant gets Google built-in integrated into the infotainment system, and a gray interior color is newly available.

With Honda Cars Philippines already hinting at the possibility of the Civic Hybrid entering our market this year, we hope that it already comes with these updates. It’s also good to note that we do usually get better specifications than what North America gets.
