Nissan PH officially welcomes new president in handover ceremony
A new leader is at the helm of Nissan Philippines, Inc. (NPI). Announced in March this year, Yasuhisa Masuda officially takes the leadership of the Japanese automaker as its new president.
A handover ceremony was held tonight, May 28, 2024, at the Grand Hyatt Manila where Masuda-san took over the reigns from Juan Manuel Hoyos who was appointed as NPI’s president in 2022.
“I truly believe that Nissan Philippines will be in good hands under the leadership of Masuda. The years of experience he has gained from working with Nissan are sure to aid the brand in sustaining the growth that we have established in the last few years. I am looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for Nissan Philippines under this new chapter,” says former Nissan President Juan Manuel Hoyos.
Masuda-san will be reporting directly to Toshihiro Fujiki, the newly appointed President of Nissan ASEAN and Thailand who replaces Isao Sekiguchi who was promoted to Corporate Vice President of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., and managing director of Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company (DFN).
Under the leadership of Mr. Hoyos, NPI introduced a handful of new models–the Kicks e-POWER, Livina, and Z, and a handful of refreshed models as well–Almera and GT-R. Also during his tenure, NPI saw a sales growth of 31% by the end of fiscal year 2023, more than double the industry’s average growth rate. He will continue pursuing his career as President of Nissan Importers Business Unit (NIBU) in the Americas, based in Mexico.
“I am looking forward to seeing where we can take the Nissan brand in the coming years. The Philippines has always been a promising market for the brand, and we will continue to work to sustain, if not surpass the growth that has been achieved in the country,” said new Nissan Philippines President Yasuhisa Masuda.
Masuda-san has been part of Nissan since 2011, and has since held various leadership positions in Market Intelligence, Brand and Media Strategy. Prior to his appointment to NPI, he held the position of Chief Marketing Officer for Japan Product Marketing and Brand and Media Strategy. Prior to joining the Japanese automaker, he also worked in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) Industry.
