The Isuzu mu-X is getting a facelift soon

The current generation Isuzu mu-X may be fresh from a facelift, albeit minor, introduced here in the Philippines last year, the Japanese SUV and light and heavy truck manufacturer is already preparing to give it another.

Teased on the social media pages of Isuzu Thailand a few days ago, it looks like the midsize SUV is set to receive a rather major facelift, similar to its pickup truck sibling which received a big update late last year.

While the teaser was very shadowy, barely showing any details of what’s new except for the obviously new daytime running light pattern, a little enhancement and shabby Photoshop work shows that it gets a completely new front fascia with a larger and rounder front grille, sleeker headlights, and a sportier and more aggressively-shaped front bumper.

Also shown in the teaser is what looks like a sportier variant to be called the RS, similar to Honda. Upon enhancing the image, it looks like it gets a mesh grille and slightly different bumper.

No details have been revealed yet about this new update to the Isuzu mu-X but powertrains will also probably remain the same. Those are a 1.9-liter RZ4E turbodiesel making 150 PS and 350 Nm, or a 3.0-liter 4JJ3-TCX turbodiesel making 190 PS and 450 Nm

It’s also possible that Isuzu may introduce with this update a new diesel mild-hybrid powertrain which adds a 48-volt battery to the smaller 1.9-liter turbodiesel engine option.

A reveal date for the new Isuzu mu-X has not yet been announced but it should be soon given that a teaser campaign has already started. Are you looking forward to what it will have to offer?
