The 2025 Isuzu mu-X is more modern and sporty
A few days ago, Isuzu Thailand teased updates to its mu-X midsize pickup-based SUV. A reveal date was not announced then but here we are.
The updates come months after its D-MAX pickup truck sibling was given a slew of updates last year. These should make it more competitive against its rivals such as the Nissan Terra, Ford Everest, and Toyota Fortuner, all of which have received updates and new generation models in different markets recently.
Like what we saw in the teasers, Isuzu has given the mu-X a much more aggressive appearance with its larger front grille and new Dynamic Blade headlights. These are matched with a fighter jet-inspired front bumper and new set of 20-inch alloy wheels.
At the back, the taillights also get a more aggressive cluster design and are now connected by a black plastic piece.
The new and sportier RS variant which we also saw in the teasers gets a Black Diamond front grille design with RS badging, blacked-out headlight and taillight clusters, a gloss black roof, and unique RS design 20-inch alloy wheels.
The interior looks similar to before but with similar changes that we first saw on its updated D-MAX pickup truck sibling. There’s a new 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a new infotainment system, and new seat pattern and cushions with a Truffle Brown color. Other changes include a PM 2.5 filtration system for the climate control, and USB-C charging ports.
Meanwhile, the RS gets a black interior with lime green accents and the RS logo embroidered on the seats, red ambient lighting.
The 2025 Isuzu mu-X remains unchanged under the hood with the same options of a 1.9-liter RZ4E turbodiesel that makes 150 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, or a 3.0-liter 4JJ3-TCX turbodiesel that makes 190 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, both mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission for the Thai market.
Changes have been done to other driving related stuff like a new electric power steering system. This also allows it to now come equipped with Lane Departure Prevention and Traffic Jam Assist, in addition to other ADAS features it already came with before.
Now for the bit you’ll want to know, when will the 2025 Isuzu mu-X reach Philippine shores? If we base our assumptions on previous updates to the SUV and its pickup truck sibling, we’ll most likely see it later before the year ends or most likely next year. Regardless, these updates certainly make it something to look forward to.
