Should GWM launch the Jolion Pro in PH?

GWM Philippines may be a bit quieter than other Chinese automakers here in our market, but their products such as the Haval H6 and Haval Jolion crossovers definitely have a lot to offer. They are also set to launch the Haval M6 as their budget compact crossover within the year.

But maybe they can get more attention with another hybrid crossover. That’s where the Haval Jolion Pro comes in. Slotting in-between the Jolion and H6, the Jolion Pro is the global version of the China-only Haval Chitu. It’s currently available in South Africa, Jamaica, and New Zealand, and is set to be launched in Australia in a few days.

Design-wise, the Jolion Pro wears a completely different exterior compared to the Jolion we have locally. It’s a bit more subdued with less flashy details with its simpler lines. Meanwhile, the rear is sporty with a roof spoiler, faux exhaust pipes on the bumper, and a full-width LED light bar for the taillights.

Inside, the Jolion Pro, or the Chinese Chitu, gets a sleeker-looking dashboard with contrasting color accents similar to other GWM models. Right now though, right-hand drive models get the same interior as the existing Jolion.

Features could include a digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, as well as an electronic gear selector.

Under the hood, it also gets the same full hybrid powertrain as the Jolion HEV variants with a 1.5-liter Inline 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine paired to a 115 kW electric motor. This produces a total combined output of 190 horsepower and 375 Nm of torque, mated to a Two-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT).

We have no idea if GWM Philippines has plans to introduce the Haval Jolion Pro locally but given their aggressive model lineup expansion, it’s not far-fetched. In addition, they also posted about the upcoming Australian launch on their official Instagram profile.

Do you think the GWM Haval Jolion Pro should be launched here?
