All-new Mitsubishi Xforce: Everything You Need To Know
Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) is back in the subcompact crossover game as they officially reveal the all-new Xforce for our market, ahead of its local debut this coming July 5, 2024.
The Mitsubishi Xforce is the Japanese automaker’s newest subcompact crossover, having been unveiled at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) in August 2023 as the production version of the Mitsubishi XFC Concept. It fills-up the void that was left by the Mitsubishi ASX when it was discontinued locally a couple of years ago.
For the Philippine market, the Mitsubishi Xforce will compete directly with the non-hybrid variants of the Toyota Yaris Cross and the non-turbo variant (1.5 S CVT) of the Honda HR-V. It will be available in two variants and will be priced as follows:
- 1.5 GLS CVT – Php 1,367,000
- 1.5 GT CVT – Php 1,581,000
Size-wise, it sits right in-between the Honda HR-V and Toyota Corolla Cross with 4,390 mm of length, 1,810 mm of width, and 1,660 mm of height. It then rides on a 2,650 mm wheelbase.
On the outside, the Mitsubishi Xforce follows the design concept of Silky & Solid. It wears a new and evolved version of the brand’s signature Dynamic Shield front fascia with a muscular and sleek stance. The headlights and taillights both follow a T-shape which will help make it instantly recognizable.
Inside, the Mitsubishi Xforce follows the Horizontal Axis Concept with its visibly more upmarket and tech-filled cabin compared to anything that Mitsubishi has done before. A special mélange fabric is used for the padding of the dashboard while a large display panel houses the driver’s digital instrument cluster as well as the vehicle’s infotainment screen.
Both variants will come with full LED exterior lighting, daytime running lights, 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, power-folding mirrors, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and (wired) Android Auto, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, and dual zone automatic climate control with air purification.
Other features are fabric seats on the GLS, while stepping-up to the GT will give you automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, as well as black and brown leather seats. The front seats even come with a pocket for smaller items or mobile phones for rear passengers.
Also standard on both variants is a Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium audio system This eight-speaker sound system is the first-ever automotive sound system designed by Yamaha and features different sound modes—Lively, Signature, Powerful, and Relaxing.
Customers can choose from four different color options which are the following:
- Quartz White
- Graphite Gray
- Blade Silver
- Energetic Yellow.
Under the hood of the Mitsubishi Xforce is a familiar engine. That’s the Mitsubishi Xpander and Xpander Cross’s 1.5-liter 4A91 Inline 4-cylinder DOHC MIVEC gasoline engine that produces 105 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque. For the Xforce, it is exclusively mated to a CVT.
That’s the only powertrain option globally for now but a hybrid powertrain is already said to be in development. We’re not sure if that will come here once it is fully-developed but to stay competitive, they’ll have to.
For driving customization, the Mitsubishi Xforce also comes with four different drive modes—Normal, Wet, Gravel, and Mud. These are also matched with Mitsubishi’s Active Yaw Control which enhances handling.
Safety is no slouch in the Mitsubishi Xforce as the GT variant comes with a suite of advanced driver-assist systems composed of Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Mitigation System, Leading Car Departure Notification, Blind Spot Warning System, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Automatic High Beam.
Again, the all-new Mitsubishi Xforce is launching this coming July 5, 2024. Are you excited for this new model?
