Ford Ranger and Everest owners are not very colorful people

When buying a new car, one of the main things you have to decide on is the exterior color. With many car brands now limiting those choices to as low as three choices, some still have a lot to offer.

Across Ford’s International Markets Group (IMG) which is composed of Australia and New Zealand, the ASEAN, North and South Africa, and the Middle East, the Ford Ranger pickup truck can be had in 20 different colors, while its Everest SUV sibling can be had in 10. Ford was able to determine which are the most popular and it seems like Ford Ranger and Everest customers aren’t exactly creative when it comes to choosing their vehicle color.

In fact, 35% of brand new Ford Rangers sold in the last six months were in shades of white, followed by gray in second at 12.6%, while shades of black and silver follow at 9.7% and 7.6%, respectively.

As for the Ford Everest, 34% goes to shades of white once again, followed by black, gray, and silver at 17.9%, 17.7%, and 10.8%, respectively.

While it may sound like owners of the two popular pickup truck and SUV sibling models may be boring, they’re more on the practical side as those colors will be easier to maintain in the long run.

White is associated with cleanliness and purity, and we know that, anecdotally, white cars tend to hide scratches a little better than other colors and they don’t show dust as easily,” says Ford Australia Colors and Materials Designer Krista Lindegger.

Even if white, gray, and black are most popular, both the Ford Ranger and Everest can be had in some unique colors such as Luxe Yellow, Blue Lightning, Sedona Orange, and Code Orange, depending on the variant.
