Toyota Motor PH issues recall for Hilux GR-S due to a sports bar issue

1 min read

Do you own the latest version of the Toyota Hilux GR-S? This is for you. Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is doing a special service campaign for select units of the sporty pickup truck.

As announced by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in an advisory, TMP says that a total of 3,244 units of the top-of-the-line variant of the very popular pickup truck are affected. These units were produced between July 27, 2023 and April 24, 2024.

The cause of this recall is due to the vehicle’s sports bar which is mounted to the pickup truck’s bed through brackets. Under “severe usage cases,” the brackets may crack and make the sports bar detach from the vehicle, posing a risk to other vehicles and pedestrians.

The sports bar may come off if its bracket cracks in “severe usage cases.”

Replacement parts are unfortunately not yet available but will be installed once they are. For now, TMP is inviting affected customers to set an appointment with their preferred authorized dealer or service center where the affected part will be removed temporarily, until a replacement becomes available.

As with every recall, this will be done at no cost to the customer. If your dealer has not yet contacted you, you can check through this link if your vehicle is affected.
