Can’t wait for a Subaru BRZ STI? The BRZ STI Edition is for you
Subaru seems to be going all out on STI-inspired versions of their performance cars. Case in point, the brand recently revealed the Subaru WRX S4 STI Sport# at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon in Japan. Closer to home, there’s also another one.
Recently revealed at the 2024 Singapore Motor Show, Subaru has given its BRZ two-door sports coupé the STI treatment with the BRZ STI Edition.
While its name may sound like it’s only pure aesthetics, it’s more than just that. Its additions allow it to get enhanced aerodynamics for better stability in high-speed driving, and sharper and more agile handling.
The BRZ STI Edition gets an exclusive body kit composed of a front under spoiler and fender garnish which manage airflow around the vehicle. Side under spoilers then channels wind towards the rear while a rear diffuser reduces drag by smoothing out undertray air. It also gets a carbon fiber rear wing that expands downforce across the rear axle.
Its interior also gets a couple of changes to make it more aesthetically sporty. The steering wheel features a red on-center stripe while the door panels also feature a red stripe.
Despite all those enhancements, the Subaru BRZ Edition still packs the same 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated flat-four D4-S Boxer engine under the hood. It produces 237 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
We don’t know yet if Motor Image, Subaru’s distributor in the Philippines, is already accepting pre-orders from its Singaporean customers. We don’t know yet if they have plans to introduce the Subaru BRZ STI Edition locally but we think if they do, they’ll have quite the looker in their lineup.
