Here are the results of the first leg of the 2024 Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup

3 min read

The Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Vios Cup has returned for its 10th season this year, albeit under the new name of Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup, with its first leg held at the Clark International Speedway in Clark Freeport, Pampanga last July 13, 2024.

The first leg of the one-make-race (OMR) series saw over 30 racers battle on the race track in challenging wet and dry conditions. This leg also saw the debut of the new OMR livery for the Toyota Gazoo Racing PH team, in line with other TGR race cars worldwide.

As before, seasoned racers participated in the Promotional, Sporting, and Super Sporting classes. A new Novice Class category was also added where winners and top performers from previous TGR Vios Cup Autocross Challenges participated, as well as Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) President Masando Hashimoto himself.

The morning of the race saw sunny skies over Clark while the afternoon quickly switched to clouds and rain which made the day more exciting for spectators, and more challenging for racers on the two sprint races and single endurance race held on that day.

During breaks from the race, members of Toyota GR car clubs were able to drive their own personal cars on the track, while a drifting exhibition using the Toyota GR 86 was also held.

The second leg of the 2024 Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup is set to happen on September 28, 2024, also at the Clark International Speedway.
