Mitsubishi Triton gets Black Edition treatment in Thailand

The current generation Mitsubishi Triton may be fairly new, having been unveiled a year ago in Thailand, but it already gets its own Black Edition variant over there.

Based on the Double Cab Plus Ultra A/T variant of the Thai market, the counterpart of the Philippine-spec 2.4 GLS 2WD A/T, the Mitsubishi Triton Black Edition is a new limited-production variant for the popular midsize pickup truck. Thailand is the first market to get it.

As you would expect from any Black Edition variant, the Triton Black Edition gets a gloss black finish for various exterior parts such as on the front grille, fog lamp housings, alloy wheels, side mirror caps, door handles, and rear tailgate handle. It also gets smoked titanium accents on the side steps and on the rear bumper.

You’ll also notice that it gets a spoiler on the rear tailgate for a sportier look, as well as “Black Edition” decals on the sides. All these are designed to match the two exterior color options of either Graphite Gray or White Diamond.

The interior also gets a few trim changes with smoked titanium accents on the steering wheel, airconditioning vent surrounds, and center console. It also gets black leather seats with perforated inserts.

Are these interior changes enough for you?

Mechanically, the Mitsubishi Triton Black Edition remains the same as the rest of the lineup with a 2.4-liter 4N16 MIVEC turbodiesel engine that produces 184 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque under the hood. Mitsubishi Motors Thailand did not say, but we’re guessing it’s exclusively available with a 6-speed automatic transmission and two-wheel drive.

Should Mitsubishi Motors Philippines bring the Triton Black Edition here?

Again, Thailand is the first market to get the Mitsubishi Triton Black Edition. Over there, it is priced at THB 1,027,000 or around Php 1.65-million, and is a limited-run special edition variant. Do you think Mitsubishi Motors Philippines should bring it here?
