Is this the new Mazda logo?

2 min read

It seems like Mazda may be getting a new logo soon.

Over the past couple of years, several car brands such as Volkswagen, Kia, Nissan, and BMW, among others, have come out with new logos to signify new directions for their companies. Well it looks like Mazda is set to follow suit soon as the Japanese automaker has recently been granted a trademark for a new logo.

The trademark for this logo was recently filed by the Mazda Motor Corporation in Japan last July 22, 2024. If it is in fact the brand’s new logo, it will replace the current one which has been in use since 1997, and has only received minor revisions since then.

The possible new Mazda logo features a more rounded shape compared to the current one’s oval form while the V-shaped winged M is less curved and makes use of straighter diagonal lines. As with the trends today, the overall logo also adopts a flat appearance as well.

We also saw a similar looking logo on the Mazda Arata EV crossover concept which was shown by Changan Mazda at the 2024 Auto China last April. Given the difference, it is possible that the new logo was still in development at that time and was not yet final.

All we can do right now is speculate as there is no clear news from Mazda yet regarding this new logo. If ever it is their actual new logo, what do you think?
