Here’s what happened at the Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup Philippines 2024

The Toyota Gazoo Racing Gran Turismo Cup Philippines 2024 (TGR GT Cup PH 2024) has come to a successful close. This year’s edition held at the SM Mall of Asia Main Atrium from August 17 to 18, 2024 (Saturday and Sunday), and we have right here the results of the race.

As it was in last year’s edition, the top three overall winners will be representing our country at the TGR GT Cup 2024 Asia Finals, happening this coming September 30, 2024 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The first day of the main races was where the top 40 sim racers from the online and offline qualifiers held a few weeks ago, battled on the fictional Trial Mountain Circuit (6 laps) using the Toyota GR Yaris RZ “High Performance” ‘20 for the Quarterfinals

The Quarterfinals were held on the fictional Trial Mountain Circuit with the Toyota GR Yaris RZ “High Performance” ’20.

The top 20 finishers from there then moved on to the Semifinals the following day using the Toyota GR Supra RZ ‘20 on the famed Suzuka Speedway with variable weather conditions which certainly made it more challenging for racers, and more interesting for spectators.

The first race of the National Finals made use of the Toyota GR Yaris RZ “High Performance” ’21 on a fictional Gran Turismo track.

The top 10 racers then battled it at the National Finals where they raced 10 laps on the Deep Forest Raceway with the Toyota GR Yaris RZ “High Performance” ‘21 once again, then 13 laps on the Brands Hatch GP with the Toyota GR 86 RZ ’21.

The last race for the Finals was done on the iconic Fuji Speedway with the Toyota GR Supra Racing Concept ‘18, and met with variable dry and wet conditions as well, giving the racers some additional adrenaline and challenges, as well as giving us spectators quite the show, especially towards the end of the race.

The last race of the National Finals was the most action-packed this season.

Coming out on top as the winners of the Toyota GR GT Cup Philippines 2024 were Luis Moreno as the champion, Enzo Ison in second place, and Russel Reyes in third place. The three of them will be representing our country at the TGR GT Cup 2024 Asia Finals.

Awards were also given for the racer with the Fastest Lap and the Driver of the Day. These were awarded to Matthew Ang and Enzo Ison, respectively.

A Media and Sponsors Exhibition Race was also held on August 16, Friday. This was where local media and event sponsors battled on the Tsukuba Circuit (6 laps) using the Toyota GR 86 RZ ‘21

Coming out on top for the Open Category (a mix of motoring media and brand sponsors) were Harvi Enriquez of Kinto One in first place, Roy Robles of Zigwheels PH in second, and Aries Espinosa of Tess Drive in third place.

For the Media Exhibition, in first place was Justin Young of VISOR, while in second place was yours truly, Julian Panlilio of AutoPH. Meanwhile in third was Dylan Afuang of BusinessWorld.

With all that, you’ll be able to catch the three overall winners of the National Finals race with finalists from all over Asia on October 13 (Sunday). Whoever wins there will represent the entire continent at the TGR GT Cup Global Finals which will be held in the Middle East.
