CONFIRMED: 2025 Nissan Patrol to get new 3.5L Twin Turbo V6

The all-new generation Nissan Patrol’s global reveal is getting closer, set to happen on September 4, 2024.

As Nissan has promised, details about the all-new Patrol have been announced weekly, with more to come in the weeks leading to its official reveal. We already know how its front grille, taillights, and wheels look. Now we get more information.

This time, Nissan has confirmed that we will have to say goodbye to the current generation Patrol’s naturally-aspirated V8 engine.

As with rumors, the upcoming all-new Patrol will be powered by the same engine found in the Infiniti QX80 which was revealed a few months ago. That’s a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 gasoline engine. For the Patrol, it produces 425 horsepower and the same 700 Nm of torque, also mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.

For comparison, the outgoing model’s 5.6-liter naturally-aspirated V8 gasoline engine that makes 400 horsepower and 560 Nm, mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. This means the new powertrain will have 25 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque more which will definitely translate to faster performance, and maybe even better fuel economy.

While enthusiasts will lament the loss of the V8, the new twin-turbo V6 will surely have its benefits both for Nissan and the consumers. What do you think of this development?
